Kelowna International Airport
Serves a region in the interior of B.C. offering services to over 250,000 people in the area. Located on the northern boundary of the City of Kelowna, adjacent to Highway 97, Kelowna International Airport (YLW) continued its record - setting trend in 1999 establishing new records for both passenger and aircraft activity. Approximately 36 departures per day offer service to four major international airports; Calgary, Edmonton, Seattle and Vancouver. Non-stop service is also provided to a number of other communities in Western Canada including Victoria. Air Canada will begin daily non-stop service to Toronto in June. Passenger volumes reached record levels for the fourth year in a row, with 815,056 passengers passing through the airport in 1999. The year 2000 once again produced increased, record passenger levels with 836,564 passengers traveling through Kelowna International Airport. A recent independent study shows Kelowna International Airport is responsible for generating an estimated $ 265.5 million of economic activity annually.
